We examined how we can leverage video to launch rich mathematics tasks in the last learning task. We also examined how tools such as Kahn Academy and Learnzillion can be used to support instruction. Other tools, such as TenMarks, also use video to develop students understanding of mathematics.
But what if you could create the video? What if your students could create their own videos? What if it was easy to do so? In this learning task, you will do just that.
There are different tools that support video creation. I prefer Educreations. It is a web-based tool for creating videos. Here are some bad examples that I've created recently.
Educreations videos can be created on your laptop, desktop, or tablet. It actually works best on a tablet. So, you may prefer/choose to use your iPad/Android tablet. Your call.
Another tablet tool is Showme. Showme works just like Educreations. However, you can only create on tablets. Yet, you can view online with any browser/tool.
Another tool is Screencast-O-Matic. It allows users to record the work that they do on the screen of their computer.
Lastly, the newest version of Quicktime (MAC OSX) allows you to make screen recordings. I've used them in this course by recording and posting to Youtube.
Your Task:
Create 2 video shorts about 2 different math topics. (tutorials below)
Use the tool that you prefer (I think Educreations is the easiest).
Post links to your video on your wiki page.
There is no Kidblog reflection for this learning task.
